Who are we?

Kudos is the UK's leading name in Education Coaching. Our mission is to "Enable EVERYONE in EVERY school to have access to high quality coaching which results in improved personal and school performance and a better quality of life." Our vision is to create a 'coaching culture' in every school so that everyone can tap into the power of coaching. We will achieve this by providing 'coaching', 'coaching programmes' and 'coaching INSET / Training' for your staff, learners, parents and governors.  It's easy - YOU decide what you want and we will give you the BEST people, tools and support to enable you to achieve your goals.

Who do we work with?

Our international client base ranges from well-known companies with turnovers in excess of £100 million to private individuals. However, as our expertise is in the world of leadership and education, we chose to specialise in this area.

Why is coaching becoming more popular?

Because it works! Coaching is now recognised as the single most powerful tool at a manager's disposal for developing staff and achieving goals. It's also very cost effective, avoids the unsustainable 'heroic' model and brings about real and lasting changes.

What are the benefits of coaching in education?

Coaching is a positive and empowering way to solve problems and bring about change. It's not a 'quick fix' - it's about sustainable improvement. It has direct benefits for staff motivation, retention and professional development. It can also improve learners' behaviour, boost achievement and enhance the quality of teaching and learning.

How do I know if a coach is properly trained and qualified?

If you are looking for a high quality coaching experience it's important to check credentials. The 'gold standard' qualification for the industry is graduation from a training programme that is accredited by the International Coach Federation (ICF). This is an extensive programme involving hundreds of hours of training, fieldwork and coaching practice. You can easily check if a coach is properly trained and fully qualified by seeing if their training is listed as 'accredited' on the ICF website www.coachfederation.org

What exactly does a coach do?

A coach listens, asks questions and keeps the conversation focused on the goal. This helps the coachee to think more clearly, find the answer that is best for them and develop an action plan. The coach then follows up from each session and holds the coachee accountable for taking action.

Don't I do this 'naturally' anyway?

Maybe, but 99% of people don't! In our everyday conversations our listening goes fuzzy and we miss about 80% of what people tell us. We tend to ask closed, long-winded or leading questions, and because we want to help we tend to jump in with advice and suggestions - this is not coaching!

So is coaching just like a 'normal' conversation?

In 'normal' conversations we each talk for about 50% of the time. In a coaching conversation the coachee does most of the talking. The coach will be actively listening for around 75-80% of the time.

Isn't this just something else under a different name?

No, coaching is not the same as 'mentoring', 'counselling', 'consulting', 'teaching' or 'training' etc. Unfortunately, as 'coaching' has become a buzzword, some people are calling themselves a "coach" when they're actually using a different approach. This has led to much confusion over what coaching really is!

Is it like sports coaching?

A sports coach analyses performance, works out what is wrong, and develops a strategy to fix it. Sports coaching is a more directive approach and includes instruction, teaching and refining skills.

How long do people work with a coach?

It depends on how quickly the coachee achieves their goal(s), and when they are ready to go it alone.

Does my coach need to be an expert in my field?

No. A coach is an expert in personal and professional development. It's not essential that they have had the same experience as you. In fact, it can be an advantage if they have had a different role to you as they are less likely to make assumptions and more likely to listen properly and be objective.

We look forward to finding out how we can help you!
